Objectives

The Objectives of Trans-SAETO are:

1: To support improvements in quality and innovation in vocational education and training systems, institutions and practices

The self-assessment software developed under the original LdV SAETO project has greatly improved the practical implementation of self-assessment linked to all main quality systems practiced in the VET sector by facilitating very much its practicability in any organisational VET context (vocational schools, training centres, etc). Trans-SAETO addresses Priority 2: Developing the quality and attractiveness of VET systems and practices. The project will produce further adaptation of the existing software to specific requirements linked to the VET organisations of the participating countries. Special attention will be paid to Liechtenstein where the introduction of EFQM-based self-assessment will cover at least 50 percent of the VET institutions. Liechtenstein may serve a pilot experience for similar implementation processes in other countries or regions in Europe.

2: To improve the quality and to increase the volume of co-operation between institutions or organisations providing learning opportunities, enterprises, social partners and other relevant bodies throughout Europe.

In countries with a dual VET system the relationship between the two main learning contexts, vocational schools and companies, is at the very centre of the system. Successful co-operation between both actors can greatly improve the overall quality of the training output and thence the labour market perspectives of young people. Trans-SAETO will contain a focus on this relationship developing a quality discourse between them. The substantial objective of this quality discourse is the development of tools for improved customer orientation in VET schools and centres towards companies enhancing, at the same time, their capacity of counselling companies in VET issues. The operational aim of this part consists in including a well-adapted satisfaction survey as an essential module of the software-based self-assessment package used in vocational schools with all the characteristics of easy implementation, analysis and evaluation.

3: To facilitate the development of innovative practices in the field of vocational education and training other than at tertiary level, and their transfer, including from one participating country to others.

Being a transfer project, Trans-SAETO will consistently seek to foster exchange of views and experience among the experts from the partner countries on this relationship between the two main actors in dual system VET. This part of the project will serve as an accompanying quality platform for the adaptation of the tools and their deployment.
